1 What is the one thing that you would change about your layout? I dont have one yet, so the thing I would change would be that I did have a layout. 2 How can you better portray our hobby as art instead of just toys? Well seriously, people thinking Model Trains are toys is just fine with me. For example, at the MR Club I belong to we have about 30 grand worth of stuff. If people knew what the layout was worth, I'm sure we would have been robed many times already.3 What are the benefits of your current scale? Well HO has got to be the best of all scales IMO. Sure you cant run super long trains like when you model N, but its not too big that you cant so so trains, say about 50 or so cars. Plus its the perfect size for detailing and scenery, N is just to small IMO. Plus everything is a decent price.4 What benefits could be obtained by changing to a different scale? I cant really see any for me, but one I would say is longer trains and less room taken up in N.5 What is the importance in selecting an era and locality before building a layout? Its very important to chose when and where your going to model. Having 1900's and 2000's models everywhere is just odd and funny lookin'.

Hey I run 4-4-0 Americans with my Dash 9-44CWs. What is wrong with that?

Sure! Haul high-cubes, double stacks and cylindrical hoppers with them. Nothing wrong with that.

Yup, thats for sure. ;D I wasnt saying I wont have any Steamers either, I like them, I'm just saying that I wont be buying any 40' boxcars or wooden caboose's to pull behind my ES44's.

I've been meaning to get started on the scenery for my layout, but something else always comes up that demands my time. It's a shame I can't be in two places at once.

I like the ability to be flexible in what period I run. Most of my stuff is mid-60s or earlier, though. Not much interest in brand new stuff. I think my newest loco is gonna be a GP-20. And that's not very new ;D But with the steamers I have, I can run wood side cabooses or bay window or steel cabooses. Cabooses can be much more flexible as far as time era compared to modern equipment like modular train stuff.

That is the reason that I love O guage the best. It isn't (nor was it meant) to be scale.
