As many of you know, I recently moved and my old layout had to be torn down. Now that we're settled into the new place I've been working on the newest version of my RR.
It's a fictional road called the Autumns Ridge Railway & Navigation Co.
I previously had gotten most of the benchwork done, then the holidays hit and everything came to a stop.
Well Jeff, you inspired me this weekend with your backdrop project. I spent the weekend finishing up all of my crossbraces on my benchwork, then I laid all of the subroadbed for the staging yard. Next is the interchange area, then I can lay some track and run some trains!

I hope to finish all of the subroadbed for the class 1 RR this week. Then I can get some trains running.

IT LIVES!!!!!!!Finally, after 10 months of construction, the Autumns Ridge Railway & Navigation Co. is back in business! It's not much, but one lone loco was seen passing through the staging yard and out to the interchange and back all under it's own power just this afternoon. Little else happened today, but that was a monumentous occasion. A local photographer caught this low quality video of the event. Plans are now underway to test all track and to fine tune it before the next stage of construction begins; more track and electrical work!

Thanks for the kind words guys! whered did you find that Loco? It's just a Bachmann 2-8-0 that I picked up at a train show (for a mere $60!) and then I slapped a decoder in it. Here's a better shot of that loco.

The Bachmann Spectrum line is the good stuff! The regular Bmann stuff is in the process of being upgraded and some of that is good too. The newer 4-8-4 Northern, the 0-6-0 & the 2-6-2 have all been done and I know the Northern is a winner (I have a few), and I've heard good things about the others. They haven't redone the body shells, so the detail is a little soft, but the mechanism's are all new. You have to look for the low profile blackened wheelsets in the jewel case to know if it's a new one. Don't buy the ones in the cardboard boxes....they're junk.

Hmmmmm, yeah, you might send that back to Bmann. They have a great warrenty program. The thing with Bmann I've noticed is that it's kind of a "try before you buy" deal. Sometimes their quality control guys fall asleep at the wheel, ya know?
I used to be an "anything BUT Bachmann" kind of guy, but the Spectrum line has impressed me. It's still "try before you buy" with me though.
Stop by the LHS and check one out though. I think you'll be impressed. Mine run almost as good as my Kato Mikado's.

Glad to hear your layout and roster is really coming together Phil. My little N scale empire is comin together quite nicely. I couldnt be happier with my little 2'x4' Coranado County Lines.
