Lap 1: Caution out for multi-car crash. Casey Mears, Brendan Gaughan, Jimmy Spencer, Jeff Burton, Kerry Earnhardt, Ricky Rudd, Scott Riggs involved. Only 14 of the 25 cars escape with no damage.
The all star challenge was broken up into four segments this year, half way through there was a break (half time) in which the drivers had time to make adjustments to the cars and just take a break. The challenge wasn't as exciting as the open, but all around it was a good race.
The two drivers that raced into the All Star Challenge were Martin Truex, Jr (1st) and Johnny Sauter (2nd). Kenny Wallace was the fan pick that was voted in.
