ya N scaler thats extreme.
..............
This is the way I see it. Amtrak has only 2 places in the country where it is worth operating passenger trains. The popular parts of the Northeast and between San Fransisco and San Diego.
So what about the rest of us? I guess we are just not good enough. And besides what good is riding a trains that are 6 hours late average, and has to stop for every God dang fricken freight train. Amtrak was a good idea at the time, but I think they should quit while they are ahead except for the 2 routes mentioned earlier.
I love traveling by train. But how will I know if it will get there the day it is supposed too? All Amtak train I have ridden long distances have been 6+ hours late, average.

I ride Amtrak quite often, most often between Fullerton and San Diego.I have ridden Amtrak from coast to coast 8 times. The trains have arrived at the final destination anywhere between 40 minutes early and 5 1/2 hours late.In 1988 on vacation I rode 5 Amtrak trains. The first 4 were on time. The only late train was the Coast Starlight.

I was just playing Trainz 2006 and the computer dispatcher put my grain train on a siding to let an Amtrak train pass. Of all the disgrace, being put on a siding to let an Amtrak go by.

I like the part where the remainder of his brain flies out. Anyways, every time I've had anything to do with Amtrak, the employees were very nice =D

You can get in trouble for making Amtrak late. A freind of a freind got in trouble for making Amtrak late on CSX like CSX isn't already making them late. I don't know what happened but he is still working for them. Amtrak on BNSF and NS are the most on time. When I go to Salisbury,NC the North Carolina Department of Transportation trains are on time. I guess its the company thats making them late.
