What is that blocked off looking area in pictures 1 & 2? What is that car in picture 8? Thanks for sharing. One of these days I'm going to have to get somebody to stand beside a track and do some DVDs of trains passing by. Living on an island 250 miles from the closest railroad doesn't afford much oppurtunity for train watching.

So sorry for such a LATE reply but that blocked off area is a point where crews can get off their train with the most safety. But heck 99% of the trains don't stop on that thing. And the car in pic 8 is a sand car, for hauling River Sand.

Am I mistaken or is that a SD-90 in the first shot? Decent photos, too bad it's cloudy. No thats a SD90/43MAC, and sometimes cloudy days are good.....other times its not. Just depends on the subject.

Well there is 1 major diff. between a SD90 and a SD90/43MAC the SD90 has the 6000 HP engine while the 90/43MAC has the 4300 HP version of the same engine.
